A Life Worth Celebrating

Today we laid my Grandma to rest. It was not easy to do, yet at times, through the tears, I would feel the urge to rejoice. She had made the journey home. She returned to the loving arms of those who had left before her, those she hadn't seen in quite some time. My grandpa, her husband, who passed away 38 years ago. My mom, her daughter, who passed away 10 years ago, and my uncle Gary, the son-in-law who did so much for her, who passed away 6 years ago. She also got to be reunited with so many of her siblings and her parents. Who wouldn't be excited to see all those people you haven't seen for so long?

My grandma was a strong woman, quite possibly the strongest woman I will ever have the honor of knowing. She survived without her beloved husband, whom she lost when she was only 46 years old. She had to endure the pain of losing a child before her, and grieve a son-in-law who did so much for her...yet she solidered on never losing her faith. I am honored to be able to call myself her grandchild.

I will try to write more about her in the coming days, but for now I am very tired. Saying goodbye to someone you hold dear is so hard emotionally and physically, but if you are reading this and you too have lost someone you hold dear...please take a moment to remember them and how much they mean to you.

God Bless you Grandma and though I will miss you dearly -- I know you are reunited with those who love you best and someday you and I will be reunited again to. I look forward to that day. I'll bring the daubers! I love you.
